Paul studied music at the University of Durham in the UK, where he specialised in voice and conducting. Whilst a student he was principal conductor of the University Chamber Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra and University Musical Theatre Societies, touring Spain, Germany and Italy.
In the UK, Paul taught at The Leys in Cambridge, and also worked with the Rodolfus Choir, performed with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and as a keen actor was a cast member of Mobil Touring Theatre’s production of Alan Bennet’s Forty Years On. He was also musical director for Restoration for the BBC and Endemol UK (who are more famous for locking people in a house and turning their arguments into a TV show called “Big Brother”!).
In 2006 Paul moved to Singapore to take up a position at the Anglo-Chinese School (International). In 2011 he left Singapore to take up the position of Director of Music at King’s College in Auckland (New Zealand). In New Zealand Paul worked closely with the Auckland Cathedral Choir, Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, Manukau Performing Arts and other organisations.
Paul has been Director of Music (and latterly of Performing Arts) at Dulwich College Beijing since 2014. Having been involved in ISCMS since then..
